That Pour Woman exists to make alcoholic beverage education accessible for everyone
About Amy
That Pour Woman is Amy Karasavas and Amy Karasavas is That Pour Woman.
After graduating from Boston University with a degree in Television and Film, Amy promptly ignored her education and started working at Facebook, which at the time was a small tech startup. After a few years in the Bay Area, she moved back to New York to dabble in comedy podcasting. She drank wine throughout these years and dreams of becoming a sommelier began to percolate.
After a few fits and starts, she began her wine journey in 2017 taking a course at the Sommelier Society of America and earning her sommelier certification in February 2018. Soon after, she launched her wine education company, That Pour Woman, specializing in public and private wine events, classes, and tastings. In 2019, she began working part time at Blanc et Rouge Wine & Spirits in Dumbo, Brooklyn. In June 2021, she became WSET 3 certified and is currently studying to become a Spanish Wine Scholar with the Wine Scholar Guild.
